It is important you follow these instructions for the accuracy and safety of the examination, or your examination may need to be rescheduled.

To find out more click in our Services section.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Request form from your doctor or allied health provider

  • Medicare card

  • Pension card

  • Healthcare card

  • Work Cover number

  • Department of Veteran Affairs card

  • Relevant prior scans

Fees & Billing

Medicare

Medicare subsidise most imaging examinations but you may be required to pay a gap which is the remaining balance.

Our team will confirm if any out-of-pocket fees are associated with your examination when you make your appointment.

We bulk bill Medicare eligible

  • Diagnostic CT scans

  • National Lung Cancer Screening Program CT scans

  • Diagnostic Xray scans

Department of Veteran Affairs

An application to DVA must be made on your behalf before your imaging exam. Our team will speak with you about this at the time you make your appointment.

WorkCover & TAC

WorkCover and TAC require a pre-approval application before agreeing to cover the costs of your imaging exam. Once approval is issued, they will provide you with a unique claim number that must be shared at the time you make your appointment.

Pension & Health Care Card Holders

Pension and Health Care card holders will bulk billed for Medicare eligible diagnostic imaging exams. A discount will be applied for image guided procedures and imaging exams not covered by Medicare.

Ensuring your Safety

Herston Private Imaging is accredited under the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme.

Fifteen standards must be must which are assessed by an independent third-party accreditation and certification provider.

Radiation Safety & Protection

Herston Private Imaging has invested in high level technology that is routinely serviced and assessed by engineers and certified medical physicists ensuring they comply with all regulated safety standards.

Our radiologists and medical radiation practitioners apply ALARA, As Low As Reasonably Achievable to each and every imaging examination performed. This in combination with our low dose imaging technology ensures high quality, optimised imaging is produced using the lowest amount if radiation necessary.

MRI Safety

The MRI machine has a powerful magnetic field that presents serious risk.

For this reason, you will be required to complete our MRI Safety Form.

Additionally, our staff will ask you a number of questions at different points of your visit as part of the safety checks. It may seem that we are asking you the same questions over again, but this is our way of ensuring your safety.

Contrast Injections

Contrast agents are sometimes used in MRI and CT to enhance blood vessels and other areas of your body, which improve the accuracy of detecting abnormalities.

You will be required to complete a Contrast Safety Form on the day of your appointment.

Our staff will also ask you some of these same questions at different points of your visit. Once again, this is our way of ensuring your safety.
